Johan Engelbrecht
Using digital technology in collaborative learning
Johann Engelbrecht is a professor in mathematics education at the University of Pretoria. Before, he was deputy dean of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and until 2013 he acted as vice-principal of the University. His fields of interest include secondary mathematics education, undergraduate mathematics education, assessment, blended learning, transition school to university, and needs of engineering students. He received awards for teaching, including the Claude Harris Leon Award "Championship in Mathematics Teaching" in 1998 and the South African Mathematical Society Award for the Advancement of Mathematics in 2005. And most important: he is married to Heloise with 3 (own) and 2 (new) children and 4 grand children who give meaning to his life.
